What I do when that happens to me is I pretend I know them.
If they say "hi" just be like "hey dude, you still up for snowboarding next weekend?"
I don't know something random like that.
Either that or totally freak them out.
One time, this person was talking to me on AIM and I didn't know him, I was pretty sure it was a guy, so just to mess with the person, I started asking it stuff like, hey, weren't you that chick I met at that bar last week? and then you got drunk and started dancing on a table?"
Then that person was all "np, im the guy who's gonna kick your ass"
So then i was like "ok."
But they stopped talking to me.
