maybe because they hated the fact that green day had become so popular and commercial, they decided to make a new band, without anyone knowing about it, (wich failed, Billie should change the way he talks and his littles moves onstage) so they could have a band, togheter again, more underground.... but thats only what I think

hmm.. I can see that.. cause maybe they felt they were getting a little too far away from the underground scene, and they just needed to let lose and be able to be INSANE again, without having it all tie down and worry about their "reputation". I mean, I know the guys aren't like that, all worrying about what people think about them, but I'm sure being in the pubic eye has enormous pressures...

Naturally, being in the spotlight has its pressures, but I think it seems a little odd that they would want to try to go back to the crowd who dumped them when they got famous with a major label.....but maybe that's just me

hmm.. true.. but they might've missed it, and couldn't think of any way to go BACK to that except for, ya know, starting an alter ego band.

Exactly what Sophie said. Like I said, because they're Green Day.
And I don't think they would try to get underground again. They can't.
If you think about it, it's for Adeline. Publicity. And (obviously, since we are currently discussing the topic) it has achieved its ultimate purpose.

well, Green Day got more attention because of the Network......
if I had a band, I would want to start an alter-ego band too
